Tommy DeVito was born in Belleville, New Jersey on June 19, 1928.
His musical career began in the early 50's when he formed the Variety Trio with his brother Nick and Hank Majewski. They were performing in Jersey nightclubs when Frankie Castelluccio, later known as Frankie Valli, joined the band. They renamed the group the Four Lovers and hit the national chart in 1956 with "Apple Of My Eye." In 1960 they became the Four Seasons. Nick DeVito and Majewski left the band and was replaced by Bob Gaudio and Nick Massi. Their huge string of hits began in 1962 with "Sherry" which zoomed to number one, accomplishing the feat in only its fourth week on the chart. Tommy, along with the other original Four Seasons, was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1999. He lives in Las Vegas with his beautiful wife Edda. |
