On December 17th, 2008 we performed on the Charles Calello Show, "The Master Behind the Music," at the the Maltz
Theater in Jupiter Florida. The two-hour concert was a tribute to the work and many hits that Charlie created.
Singing our famous "puppy ah ooh"s on "Lightning Strikes" with the great Lou Christie was a blast. Charlie wanted to re-create what we did in the studio 42 years ago having the original backup singers there. Lou looked and sounded great, singing the song in the exact same key he did back then. Hanging out with Lou was wonderful. We spoke of the time we spent together in the studio in 1966 and shared lots of memories and laughs. On the same bill was the incredible Juice Newton. She looked gorgeous and sounded great. She wowed the audience with "Angel Of the Morning," to a standing ovation. It was wonderful to meet and work with her. We also shared the stage with Charlie's very talented son Charles Calello Jr. He sang a lot of his father's hits and did a fabulous job. And last but not least ... Tomey Sellars, a natural born entertainer with a voice that takes your breath away and with beauty to match, tore the house down with her rendition of "Eli's Comin" and took out the show with "All By Myself," bowing to a standing ovation! Tomey also filled in the 3rd part of our background harmony on "Lightning Strikes." It was great!!! The music was provided by the Florida Pops, and conducted by the mega talented Charles Calello! Re-uniting with Charlie and Lou after all these years was so much fun. We were honored to be part of this historic musical event. Denise and Bernadette |
